Tonight Judith purred for a really long time in my lap (held there by furry apron pouch)! And I pet Adrienne for a good while with her ears upright. Adrienne still hisses when you go to pick her up, but the ear body language is looking good.

It's really hard to get pictures of cats when they're in your lap and you're trying your hardest just to teach them that humans are good.

 Today’s accomplishments:

Judith purred in my arms!

Katrina got Judith and Lilith to not only eat churu from the tube but also to lick it off her finger!

Adrienne ate churu from Katrina!

Gloria purred for Katrina!

 This morning’s accomplishments:

No one hiding behind the litter robot!
Adrienne ate out in the open!
Kittens playing with me in the room! Playing with kittens, aka rolling the ball back to them when it got stuck against me.
Judith licked my foot! (Did not want pets.)

Everyone has now eaten with me in the room! Though I did have to bring the bowl to Adrienne and go back to my spot. So much for cats not wanting to eat near their litter boxes.

Today, I am reading to them from Hannah Shaw’s Tiny but Mighty so they get used to my voice. They were not a fan of Zoom services this morning. They’re not quite ready for that much human noise yet.

Breakfast time!

 We have names!

The grey and white kitten is Lilith (formerly thought a demon, now a Jewish feminist icon). Won’t eat with me in the room but finally took Churu from Katrina after a whole lot of coaxing.

The long-haired kitten is Gloria (Steinem). Will eat with me in the room, but waits for her sister to go first. Ate Churu from Katrina - after her sister did.

The kitten formerly known as The Bold One is Judith (Butler). Katrina held this kitten and fed her Churu while doing so! She’ll eat right away and come near me, but doesn't want me to pet her. (Yes, Katrina did pick her up.)

The remaining kitten, hard to see in this picture, is Adrienne (Rich). I really only believe she exists due to seeing her through the door after I’ve left the room. She’s going to be the toughest nut to crack.

The theme we chose: feminists. The fact that we ended up with all Jewish feminists is a complete coincidence. (I chose two; Katrina chose two.)

Katrina knows that the way to a kitten’s heart is churu.

I am not surprised at all that she’s better at this than I am.

We seriously need to name this kitten so I can stop calling her The Bold One.

And by bold, I mean I am across the room and she is on the cat tree.

Two down, two to go in Operation Breakfast! One kitten ate as soon as I put down the food and retreated to the other side of the room and has commenced post-food grooming. This kitten waited for her sister to be done and then kept poking her head out of her hiding spot to make sure I’m not making any moves.

Meet our new foster crew! These four 8-week-olds are in for a crash course in socialization but they’re definitely not ready to say hi. Katrina nixed my Simchat Torah names idea, so I think we’re going with feminists. Who are your favorite feminists?
